What customers say?

“ Little Byrd Cafe is such a hidden gem in Ascot Vale The space is cosy, quiet and welcoming, perfect for a relaxed brunch or even getting a bit of work done. The staff are genuinely friendly and the service is quick without feeling rushed. I tried the Special Stir Fry Chicken with Rice and it was so flavourful and comforting. The Mont Blanc coffee drink was smooth, creamy and such a nice change from the usual cafe options. The dishes were beautifully presented and tasted even better than they looked. Also loved the Moroccan Meatballs Tagine and the Fettuccini Al Gamberi on my visit everything was consistently delicious. The Funky Monkey drinks and Pistachio Paradise Pancake were great sweet options to finish with. ”

“ Lovely brunch spot in Ascot Vale. The French toast was a standout — perfectly cooked, not too sweet, and beautifully presented. We also tried the Moroccan meatballs and prawn pasta, both full of flavour and well balanced. Relaxed atmosphere, friendly service, and a great place for a weekend brunch. Would definitely come back! ”

“ A fantastic brunch spot! The Pistachio Paradise Pancake was a delicious, nutty delight. The Moroccan Meatballs Tagine was flavourful and hearty, perfect with the egg and bread. The Pulled Pork Benedict was also superb with its tasty fritter and runny egg. Washed it all down with refreshing green apple juice and iced matcha. Highly recommend! ”

“ Little Byrd was very busy on our visit but the staff managed the chaos so well and remained friendly and attentive throughout. It’s clearly very popular with the locals and for good reason. The menu had a really good range of dishes but we settled on the Green Bowl and the Pistachio Pancakes. Both were some of the best versions of these we’ve had! The coffee and sticky chai were also excellent. I’m on the opposite side of Melbourne but this is a cafe I’d happily make the trip for again. If I were local I’d definitely be a regular. ”

Felt like dessert for both kids& adults Fettuccini Al Gamber Big juicy prawns in a garlicky white wine sauce with cherry tomatoes, basil and spinach. Light but still super satisfying Pulled Pork Benedict Eggs on a potato and halloumi fritter with smoky BBQ pulled pork and hollandaise *Thank you @little.byrd for having me* #melbbrunch melbcafe melbcoffee melbourneeats melbournecoffee ”

“ This place just became my #1 brunch spot in Melbourne. A bit off the beaten path but worth the trip. The Fettuccini Al Gamberi is a genius East-West fusion with plump prawns and bold garlic-wine flavours. Steak Sandwich is loaded with cheese, pickles, caramelised onions, fried egg & juicy beef on crispy sourdough – and those fries are insanely crunchy & salty! Moroccan Meatball Tagine has perfectly spiced, tender meatballs in rich sauce. Mont Blanc coffee is citrusy & sweet. Creative, generous portions, amazing value. Instant favourite – highly recommend! ”

“ Came here on a weekend morning and the place was already packed by 9:30 while the whole street was still quiet — definitely one of the most popular brunch spots around! Every dish exceeded expectations: the Pulled Pork Benedict was absolutely incredible, tender and flavorful with a crispy potato hash base; the Chilli Scrambled Eggs were soft, creamy, and perfect with mushrooms; and the French Toast was fluffy, balanced, and not overly sweet. Drinks were just as good — the Berry Heaven smoothie with vanilla protein was a surprising standout, and the coffee (Flat White & Latte) had a smooth, slightly smoky finish. Honestly thought it would just be another brunch café, but it turned out to be a real hidden gem. Highly recommend! ”

“ Loved the food! The staff was so kind, the atmosphere was lively, and the food tasted great! The best part of the meal was definitely the Moroccan Meat Balls Tagine - it was spiced, flavourful, and hearty! Perfect since the weather when we ate here was cold and rainy. The fries were crispy yet fluffy, and the french toast was surprisingly not too sweet! The coffee was great, and so was the Funky Monkey Smoothie (vanilla whey protein, oat milk, peanut butter, chocolate sauce, banana!) Overall, the food was filling and hearty, and there are no complaints from us! ”
